My full name is Chen, Hsiang-Shu (陳庠𣗳).
I originally hail from Taiwan and have enjoyed experiences living in both the US and China before settling in beautiful Edinburgh.
As a therapist, I believe creating a safe and comfortable space is essential. Part of that involves getting to know each other. So, here are more stories of mine:
Travel, stories, and films always hold a special place in my heart, as I feel the tapestry of people, cultures, and their interactions can fuel my creativity and curiosity. It's like a continuous adventure, a reminder for me that life is always in motion.
I am a UK-based psychotherapist in my thirties, with over ten years of experience helping adults and children. Beyond clinical practice, I'm a doctoral candidate at the University of Edinburgh, contributing to the field by training future therapists and clinical psychologists. My research areas of expertise and interests lie primarily in trauma healing, depressive and anxious feelings, and psychoanalytic exploration. My doctoral research delves into the psychological process of procrastination, exploring its connection to trauma, depression, anxiety, and cultural influences.
Biography
Therapeutic Values
In my work as a therapist, I am always very trusting because I believe, as a therapist, I am let into your inner world, for it's there that true healing can just begin. I approach each session with curiosity, openness, respect, both emotionally and intellectually engaged in the words, feelings, and stories you bring into our sessions.
I believe:
all thoughts mentioned deserve exploring,
all emotions behind deserve to be honoured,
all the underlying needs deserve to be contained,
all injustice deserves validation and empowerment,
and all wounds deserve to be understood and healed.
